Programme Overview

The task confronting today’s participants is to develop an inquiring and challenging mindset about critical topics while introducing new/advanced managerial skills and techniques. They need a programme that enables them to develop a capacity for analytical thinking by giving strong market know-how. The two-day workshop is sucha focused and comprehensive classroom training programme designed to familiarize participants with the modalities of trading in commodities derivatives market.

Objective

The programme has the following objectives:

  • Provide systematic framework for analyzing and understanding different types of orders, order matching process, the mechanics of margins, mark-to- market settlements and deliveries. 
  • Make participants gain understanding of basis movement in the financial markets and its effect on the short and long hedger under different market conditions. 
  • Provide conceptual understanding about the concept of contango and backwardation and their implication on the hedger’s payoff. Expose participants to the concept of inter-, intra-, and butterfly spread and how to execute them for one’s advantage. 
  • Equip participants with the concept of arbitrage trading between the spot and futures market to lock in anticipated profit. 
  • Provide conceptual understanding about the fundamentals and various terminologies of options trading and pricing. Make participants understand how bull & bear spreads can reduce cost basis of the trade.
